Tamil Nadu DMK Restores Leadership Posts After Internal Split

The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) in Tamil Nadu has reassigned party responsibilities following a recent factional dispute. SB Velumani, Natham Viswanathan and MR Vijayapaskar have been given party posts, while CV Shanmugam was not appointed. The party’s general secretary, Palaniswami, has named Velumani and Viswanathan as deputy general secretaries and appointed Varagur Arunachalam as chief secretary. Former ministers, including former chief ministers and other senior leaders, have been placed in various organizational roles. The reshuffle comes after a group of MLAs opposed Palaniswami, temporarily lost their positions, and later realigned with the party, prompting the current appointments.
