Tamil Nadu Forecast: Rain in Western Ghats, Heat Advisory in Interior
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a forecast of moderate rainfall across the Western Ghats districts of Tamil Nadu through July 29‑30, linked to a weak low‑pressure system over the coastal region. Light to moderate showers are also expected in districts such as Cuddalore, Villupuram, Chengalpattu, Tiruvannamalai and along the Chennai coast, with occasional gusty winds.
Simultaneously, the IMD warned that interior districts—including Erode, Karur, Madurai, Dindigul, Virudhunagar, Thoothukudi and Tirunelveli—could see temperatures up to 4 °C above the seasonal norm, prompting a heat advisory. Residents are urged to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged exposure to the afternoon sun, and follow official bulletins. Chennai may experience isolated light rain in the evening, while most of the state remains partly cloudy.
The department will continue monitoring the weak low‑pressure system and its impact on rainfall distribution and heat conditions across Tamil Nadu.
