Tamil Nadu forecasts heavy rain across six districts for a week

The Regional Meteorological Centre in Chennai has warned of heavy rainfall in six districts of Tamil Nadu—Tirunelveli, Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Dindigul, Theni and Kanyakumari—for at least the next week. The forecast also calls for strong winds in the same areas and predicts moderate rain in the Western Ghats, Cauvery Delta and parts of northern Tamil Nadu. Meteorologists attribute the activity to an upper‑atmospheric cyclonic circulation over northern Kerala that is influencing the south‑Indian monsoon.

Officials have urged residents in the affected districts to remain vigilant, monitor official bulletins and be prepared for possible water‑logging and local disruptions, while noting that the rains could bring relief from the recent heat and humidity.
