Tamil Nadu issues heavy rain warning for 22 districts

The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) warned that a cyclonic circulation over South Kerala and adjoining Tamil Nadu will bring heavy rain, thunderstorms and lightning to 22 districts of Tamil Nadu and the union territory of Puducherry for the next week. The system is expected to cause widespread precipitation across the state's western, central and southern regions, with districts such as Nilgiri, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Madurai and Chennai among those listed. Strong winds and lightning are also forecast, and officials have urged residents, especially in low‑lying and hilly areas, to stay alert, follow official warnings and take necessary precautions. In Chennai, cloud cover and high humidity will persist, with temperatures up to about 40 °C; only light rain is possible there, and no heavy rain is expected.
