Tamil Nadu launches sweeping IAS reshuffle and announces crop‑loan waiver for 1.4 million farmers

The Tamil Nadu state government carried out a large‑scale reshuffle of Indian Administrative Service officers, transferring and posting dozens of senior officials. Key moves include E. Sundaravalli, IAS, moving from Commissioner of Collegiate Education to Special Secretary in the Public and Rehabilitation Department, and R. Lalitha, IAS, becoming Secretary to the Government (Expenditure) in the Finance Department. Numerous district collectors were reassigned, such as A. K. Kamal Kishore (Tenkasi) and M. S. Prasanth (Kallakurichi) moving to Joint Secretary roles in Finance, and several others taking new posts across health, rural development, and corporate bodies.

In the same announcement, Chief Minister M. K. Stalin unveiled a crop‑loan waiver scheme covering roughly 1.42 million marginal farmers. Loans up to ₹50,000 borrowed from cooperative banks will be fully waived, with graded relief for larger amounts, amounting to an additional government outlay of about ₹2,044 crore.
