Tamil Nadu Law Minister R. Nirmalkumar Denies Horse‑Trading Allegations Against TVK

Tamil Nadu's law minister and joint general secretary of the Tamilaga Vetrik Kazhagam (TVK), R. Nirmalkumar, rejected accusations that the party is enticing opposition leaders with money. Speaking to reporters in Chennai, he said leaders join TVK "based on their political thinking and belief, not on any inducement" and emphasized that "horse trading means giving money or other inducements to elected representatives to switch parties".

Nirmalkumar added that the DMK and AIADMK have seen a decline in organization after the recent assembly elections, limiting AIADMK's presence to a few southern districts. He hinted at possible future coordination between former AIADMK minister K.T. Rajendran Balaji and DMK minister Anitha R. Radhakrishnan. The minister also noted that meetings with Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay can be arranged through the chief minister’s office, affirmed that the state's two‑language policy remains unchanged, and said investigations into party fund complaints are ongoing.
