Tamil Nadu leaders demand action on Cauvery dam and child murder

AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami urged the Tamil Nadu government to state its position on the Mekedatu project, a proposed balancing reservoir on the Cauvery River in Karnataka. He said the plan threatens the water supply for 20 districts and could turn the Cauvery Delta into a desert, and he called for the state to “initiate steps against the Congress government in Karnataka” and protect Tamil Nadu’s rights.

AMMK chief TTV Dhinakaran called on Chief Minister M.K. Stalin to ensure the “inhuman perpetrators” who abducted and murdered a 10‑year‑old girl in Coimbatore’s Sulur area are arrested and face “stern action”. He highlighted the rise in crimes against children and women in the state and urged special attention to women’s safety.
