Tamil Nadu Minister Ramesh accuses DMK of promoting abusive political culture
Tamil Nadu Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Minister S. Ramesh has accused the opposition DMK party of fostering a political culture defined by obscene, derogatory, and defamatory speech. Speaking to reporters in Tiruchi, Ramesh claimed that such behavior is part of the DMK’s ‘DNA’ and criticized former Chief Minister M. K. Stalin for encouraging this conduct within the party.
The minister specifically targeted Udhayanidhi Stalin for making derogatory remarks against ministers. Ramesh also warned that the government would take strict legal action against individuals who make disparaging comments regarding the Chief Minister, women, or the general public.
Addressing concerns regarding law and order, Ramesh dismissed allegations from AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami regarding a recent spike in crimes against women. He argued that current challenges are the result of systemic failures from the previous five years of administration, which the current government is working to rectify.
