Karnataka ordered to release 3,500 cusecs of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu
The Cauvery Water Regulation Committee (CWRC) has recommended that Karnataka release 3,500 cusecs of water per day to Tamil Nadu for 15 days, amounting to roughly 4 TMC. Karnataka Water Resources Minister Ramalinga Reddy said the state is facing a severe rainfall deficit, low reservoir levels and an urgent need for drinking water, and will discuss the directive with Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar before deciding. He indicated that the state may appeal the CWRC order to the Cauvery Water Management Authority.
