Tamil Nadu MLA MR Vijayabhaskar Resigns, Raising Vacancy Count to Seven
MR Vijayabhaskar, the AIADMK legislator from the Karur constituency, submitted his resignation letter to Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Speaker J.C. Prabhakar. His departure increased the number of vacant seats in the Assembly to seven and reduced the AIADMK’s strength to 41 members.
The resignation follows a wave of AIADMK MLAs leaving office and joining the TMC, prompting criticism from opposition leader Udhayanidhi Stalin. Stalin posted on social media, saying, “Another day! Another resignation! This sofa‑model governance continues to buy MLAs without stopping,” and accused the state government of “mass betrayal of the people.”
