Tamil Nadu political shifts as TVK builds major coalition

Political dynamics in Tamil Nadu are shifting as the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) builds a significant coalition. While TVK previously maintained a substantial vote share without allies, it is now reportedly consolidating support from various groups, including the Indian Union Muslim League, the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi, and the Congress party. Analysts suggest this coalition could command nearly 50% of the vote bank.

In contrast, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) faces challenges due to its decision to contest without major allies like the Left parties, Congress, or the Muslim League. This isolation has led to predictions that the DMK may struggle in upcoming by-elections, potentially falling to third place in certain constituencies.

Simultaneously, Communist leaders M. Veerapandian and P. Shanmugam have issued strong criticisms against the TVK administration. They specifically condemned the handling of student protests regarding the NEET examination, alleging police misconduct and the arrest of students who were protesting against the central government. The Communist leaders emphasized that they will not compromise on issues affecting the poor and demanded that the Chief Minister, rather than officials, lead the administration.
