Tamil Nadu road accidents result in multiple fatalities
Multiple fatal road accidents have been reported across Tamil Nadu, resulting in several deaths and injuries.
In Maduranthagam, three college students died and four others were seriously injured after their car overturned on the Chennai-Trichy National Highway. The accident occurred on a Friday night when a rear tyre burst, causing the driver to lose control. The students, who were returning to Chennai from a trip to Puducherry, were taken to hospitals in Chengalpattu and Maduranthagam.
In separate incidents on Sunday, seven people were killed in two different accidents. In the Dindigul district near Vadamadurai, four children were killed when a speeding unidentified vehicle struck them while they were playing by the roadside. The driver fled the scene, and police are searching for the vehicle.
Additionally, in the Tiruvallur district near Periyapalayam, three family members died when an autorickshaw they were traveling in collided with a truck. The driver lost control while attempting to overtake. Chief Minister Vijay expressed grief over the deaths of the children in Dindigul and announced a solatium of Rs three lakh for their families.
