Tamil Nadu villagers petition authorities over dyeing unit pollution and water pipeline alignment

Residents of Karur district submitted a petition to Collector C Muthukumaran demanding the closure of a dyeing unit they say is operating without proper permission and discharging untreated effluent into local groundwater, contaminating water sources. The collector pledged an inspection and appropriate action.

Residents and farmers of Kodaiyanchi village in Tirupattur district lodged a petition with Collector R Ravikumar opposing a proposed drinking‑water pipeline alignment along the Kodaiyanchi–Vaniyambadi road. They cited frequent leaks from an ageing pipeline that damage the road, hinder transport and pose safety risks, and asked for road upgrades, regular bus service and an alternative pipeline route. The collector assured a detailed study before any final decision.
