Tamil Nadu weather alert: Heavy rain forecast for three districts

The Regional Meteorological Centre has forecasted heavy rainfall accompanied by thunder in the Chengalpattu, Villupuram, and Cuddalore districts of Tamil Nadu due to a weak low-pressure circulation along the coast.

In addition to these three districts, moderate rain with potential lightning is expected in several other areas, including Tiruvallur, Tiruvannamalai, Perambalur, Ariyalur, Mayiladuthurai, Pudukkottai, Sivaganga, Madurai, Dindigul, and Theni. While widespread disruption is not anticipated, sudden heavy downpours may cause waterlogging in low-lying areas and affect traffic visibility.

Conversely, inland districts are expected to experience a rise in maximum temperatures over the next four days, potentially reaching four degrees Celsius above normal. This increase is likely to heighten heat and humidity, particularly during the afternoons. Authorities have advised residents, especially children and senior citizens, to stay hydrated and avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.
