Tamil Nadu weather alert: Rain and thunderstorms forecast

The South-West monsoon is active across Tamil Nadu and the union territory of Puducherry, bringing forecasts of rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds to several regions.

Districts in the Western Ghats are expected to receive moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds. In the vicinity of Chennai, including Kancheepuram, Chengalpattu, Tiruvallur, and Ranipet, light to moderate rain with thunderstorms is anticipated. Chennai itself is expected to experience partly cloudy skies during the day, with showers likely occurring in the evening or night.

Weather officials have advised caution regarding lightning and strong winds. In Chennai, temperatures are expected to range between a minimum of 25-28°C and a maximum of 34-35°C. While the rainfall may provide relief from heat and humidity, it could also lead to slippery roads, reduced visibility, and localized waterlogging.
