Tamil Nadu weather forecast predicts rain and thunderstorms

The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) has forecasted light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms across various parts of Tamil Nadu. Atmospheric conditions are favorable for precipitation due to a cyclonic circulation at an altitude of approximately 7.6 km over the southwest Bay of Bengal and a low-pressure area extending from south interior Karnataka through Tamil Nadu to the Gulf of Mannar.

Specific regions, including the Western Ghats and southern districts such as Madurai, Sivaganga, Ramanathapuram, and Virudhunagar, are expected to experience light to moderate rainfall. Scattered light rain is also predicted for Puducherry and Karaikal. While coastal areas will see temperatures remain near seasonal norms, some interior districts may experience a temperature increase of two to four degrees Celsius above normal.

Rainfall activity is expected to increase between September 9 and 10, particularly in northern Tamil Nadu, the Western Ghats, Puducherry, and Karaikal. In Chennai, partly cloudy skies are expected with a possibility of light to moderate thunderstorms during the evening or night.
