Tamil Nadu weather forecast predicts wet spell through August 27

Tamil Nadu is expected to experience a period of wet weather lasting until August 27. A cyclonic circulation associated with a weather system moving over the Chhattisgarh-north Odisha region, along with an offshore trough near the coast, is predicted to influence rainfall, particularly in the north coastal regions including Chennai, Ranipet, and Tiruvannamalai.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has also identified a fresh low-pressure area over the northwestern Bay of Bengal. While this system is unlikely to have a direct impact on Tamil Nadu, it is expected to cause rough sea conditions along the coasts of West Bengal, Odisha, and northern Andhra Pradesh, prompting advisories for fishermen to avoid venturing into the sea.

Forecasts indicate moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds reaching speeds of 40-50 kmph for several districts, including Chengalpattu, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram, and the Western Ghats. Increased moisture and cloud cover from the active Southwest monsoon in Kerala are also expected to cause temperatures to dip across the state.
