Tamil Nadu Weather Service Issues Rain and Thunderstorm Alerts for 26 Districts

The Tamil Nadu State Weather Department warned that 26 districts across the state could experience rain accompanied by lightning and thunderstorms. Areas such as Chennai, Puducherry, Karaikal and districts including Ariyalur, Kallakurichi, Kanyakumari, Dharmapuri, Madurai, Sivaganga, Ramanathapuram, Thiruvarur, and many others were identified as likely to receive light to moderate showers within the next three hours. The alert notes that a low‑pressure system over the southeast Arabian Sea and the southern Indian Ocean is expected to move west‑northwest, potentially strengthening over the coming 48 hours and affecting additional coastal districts. Residents have been advised to stay alert for sudden weather changes and to take precautions against lightning and heavy rain.
