Tamil Nadu Western Districts Forecast Heavy Rain, Strong Winds to Aug 6

India's Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a forecast of heavy rain accompanied by strong winds across the western districts of Tamil Nadu, including Coimbatore, Tirunelveli, Nilgiris, Theni and Kanyakumari, through 6 August. The system is a weak low‑pressure circulation over the coastal region, expected to bring intermittent downpours and gusty conditions.

Authorities have advised residents in vulnerable areas to remain alert, though flood risk is considered low. The department also noted a chance of moderate rain with strong winds in some northern coastal districts. Temperatures are expected to stay high, with maximums around 38 °C, but a slight cooling of up to 2 °C may occur as the weather pattern progresses.
