Indian Embassy rescues Tamil Nadu woman from distress in Kuwait
The Indian Embassy in Kuwait has rescued Vanitha, a domestic worker from the Kallakurichi district of Tamil Nadu, following a desperate video appeal. In the footage, Vanitha alleged she was being tortured, denied proper food for over 50 days, and had not received her wages for two months.
Vanitha’s family reported that she was deceived by an employment agent who arranged her work in Kuwait three months ago. Following the viral video, authorities in Kallakurichi verified her identity and coordinated with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal confirmed that the embassy has provided assistance and that Vanitha is currently safe under their care. The Indian government stated its ongoing commitment to the safety and welfare of its nationals living abroad.
