Recent reports highlight the rescue of Indian domestic workers from alleged exploitation and torture in Kuwait.

In early September, the Indian Embassy in Kuwait rescued a woman from Tamil Nadu named Vanitha after she released a video appeal alleging she had been denied food for over 50 days, withheld wages for two months, and was being tortured. Her family indicated she had been deceived by an employment agent. The Ministry of External Affairs confirmed she was placed under embassy care.

In a separate but related instance, a 35-year-old woman named Prema was rescued after ten months of alleged abuse. Prema reported being forced to work over 20 hours a day without her promised salary and being locked in a room without adequate food or water. Following her social media appeal, she was assisted by the Tamil Nadu Domestic Workers Welfare Trust and repatriated via Oman to Chennai. Prema noted that women from other regions, including Kerala and Andhra Pradesh, have faced similar hardships.
