Tamworth man to fight negligent driving charge in fatal crash

A 39-year-old Tamworth man is scheduled to face a hearing in Narrabri Local Court in February 2027 regarding a fatal vehicle collision on the Kamilaroi Highway. The man has pleaded not guilty to a charge of negligent driving occasioning death after the Director of Public Prosecutions withdrew a previous charge of dangerous driving occasioning death.

The incident occurred on August 17, 2025, near Wee Waa, involving a collision between a semi-trailer, a tractor, and a horse truck towing a caravan. The crash resulted in the death of a teenage boy at the scene. While the tractor and semi-trailer drivers were uninjured, the driver of the horse truck was treated for leg injuries.
