Tamworth police investigate break-ins and alleged kidnapping

Police in Tamworth have released CCTV footage as they investigate a series of crimes including home break-ins, vehicle thefts, and an alleged kidnapping.

According to investigators from the Oxley Police District, the incidents began early Monday, September 7, when a BMW sedan was stolen from a ransacked home in Hillvue. The stolen vehicle was later used in a series of robberies at a motel in Westdale, where suspects allegedly kicked open doors to demand cash and keys from two different men.

Following these thefts, a group allegedly approached a man in East Tamworth. One member of the group was reportedly armed with a machete. The man was allegedly forced into a stolen vehicle and driven to a bank on Peel Street, where the group demanded he withdraw money. The victim was later located uninjured, but the suspects remain at large. Police are currently seeking two men of medium build wearing black hooded jerseys and face coverings to assist with inquiries.
