Tamworth Skywalk accident injures elderly woman
An elderly woman in her 80s sustained minor injuries after falling approximately 1.5 metres onto rocks from the newly opened Tamworth Skywalk. The incident occurred on a Thursday morning during a walk.
Paramedics reported the woman suffered minor injuries to her head, back, shoulder, and arm. She was transported to Tamworth hospital in stable condition. While the $18 million attraction features railings on both sides in many areas, reports indicate the specific section where the fall occurred did not have a safety railing.
A spokesperson for the Tamworth Regional Council stated that while certain sections of the Skywalk do not require railings under relevant walking track design standards, the entire length of the path includes a handrail on at least one side to maintain a natural bushwalk experience.
