Tan Cheng Hoe prepares Malaysia squad for FIFA ASEAN Cup

Malaysia national football team coach Tan Cheng Hoe is preparing his squad for the upcoming FIFA ASEAN Cup, scheduled from September 24 to October 5. The coach is currently monitoring player performances in the domestic league to finalize the roster, though he indicated that established players such as Dion Cools, Arif Aiman, La’Vere Corbin-Ong, and Syihan Hazmi are likely to be included.

A key development involves the potential inclusion of naturalized players to strengthen the team. Bergson da Silva, a striker for Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT), is a primary candidate, pending official confirmation from FIFA. Other players reportedly completing the naturalization process include Manuel Hidalgo, Shane Lowry, and Brad Tapp.

Malaysia is placed in Group A alongside Indonesia, Singapore, and Bangladesh. The team is scheduled to begin official training on September 21, with their first match against Bangladesh set for September 25.
