Tan Son Nhat Airport to add two underground metro stations
Ho Chi Minh City’s Tan Son Nhat International Airport will be served by two new underground metro stations that link directly to its passenger terminals. Terminal 3 will connect to a station on Metro Line 6 (the Tan Son Nhat‑Phu Huu segment), while a shared station for Terminals 1 and 2 will serve both Metro Line 4 (Dong Thanh‑Hiep Phuoc segment) and Line 6.
The plan is coordinated by the Metro Management Authority (MAUR) and the airport operator ACV, and is aligned with the broader upgrade of Tan Son Nhat and the future Long Thanh International Airport. Four possible metro‑rail corridor options are being studied to connect Tan Son Nhat with Long Thanh, combining metro lines 2, 4, 6 and regional rail. Construction of the Line 6 segment is targeted for late 2024 if land‑acquisition proceeds, otherwise in the first quarter of 2027.
