Tanah Merah police seize 44 smuggled cattle worth RM211,200

Malaysian authorities seized 44 smuggled cattle valued at RM211,200 during a police operation in Tanah Merah, Kelantan. The seizure occurred during ‘Op Taring Wawasan Kelantan’ near Kampung Bendang Besar Jedok.

Officers from the Pasukan Gerakan Am (PGA) Southeast Brigade observed men dragging cattle from the direction of the Golok River toward a house. Upon intervention, two local men, both aged 20, were detained in a Hino lorry. While several individuals fled into nearby bushes, the two suspects were caught in the vehicle.

Additional inspections revealed 21 cattle tied to trees behind a house and one animal inside a Ford Econovan. The suspects claimed they were working for a Thai national known as ‘Abe Lan’ and were to receive RM1,300 to transport the livestock to Negeri Sembilan. Authorities also discovered suspicious livestock transfer authorization letters at the scene. The case has been handed to the Bukit Bunga Customs Department for investigation under Section 135(1)(e) of the Customs Act 1967.
