TanGo Energy begins drilling in Vaca Muerta, Río Negro
TanGo Energy has commenced drilling its first unconventional wells in the Charco del Palenque area of the Vaca Muerta formation in Río Negro, Argentina. This move marks a transition from preparatory works to active drilling operations for the company in the province.
The project is part of a larger plan to evaluate the productive potential of the Vaca Muerta formation in Río Negro to determine the feasibility of large-scale development. The Charco del Palenque pilot plan includes two wells with a committed investment of USD 32 million.
This initiative is part of an initial phase involving three concessions—Charco del Palenque, Jarilla Quemada, and part of Entre Lomas—with total investments exceeding USD 66 million. These areas were transferred to TanGo following a government decree that authorized the conversion of these sites for unconventional hydrocarbon exploitation.
