Tanzania adjusts 2026 national exam schedule due to El Nino
Tanzania’s Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has revised the 2026 national assessment and examination schedule to mitigate potential disruptions caused by El Nino weather patterns.
Deputy Minister Wanu Hafidh Ameir announced the changes in Dar es Salaam, noting that the Tanzania Meteorological Authority predicts heavy rainfall starting in October 2026 and peaking in November. The ministry aims to prevent logistical challenges, such as transport issues and flooding, that could affect the accessibility of examination centers.
The revised schedule includes: - Standard Two National Assessment: October 7–8, 2026 - Standard Four National Assessment: October 5–6, 2026 - Form Two National Assessment: October 12–23, 2026 - Form Four National Examinations: October 19–November 6, 2026
The adjustments, made in collaboration with the National Examinations Council of Tanzania, are intended to ensure the safety of students, teachers, and officials, while protecting examination materials and documents.
