Tanzania advances national development in mining, health, and diplomacy
Tanzania is advancing several national development initiatives across economic, health, and diplomatic sectors. In Qatar, Prime Minister Mwigulu Nchemba met with Tanzanian drivers employed by MOWASAL, urging them to maintain the nation's reputation through hard work and integrity. He also directed the Ministry of Home Affairs to investigate ways to link foreign training certificates to a national database to ensure professional recognition upon their return.
In the mining sector, the government aims to increase geophysical research coverage from 16 percent to 50 percent of the country by 2030. This initiative seeks to provide accurate data for small-scale miners and boost the sector's contribution to the GDP and foreign exchange.
On the health front, Tanzania has committed to the international goal of eradicating Rinderpest by 2040. This pledge was reinforced during the One Health and Food Systems International Conference in Rome, emphasizing the integration of human, animal, and environmental health.
Additionally, the University of Dodoma (UDOM) has announced 15 new academic job openings for various tutorial assistant positions, with applications closing on September 28, 2026.
