Tanzanian national development and mining initiatives

Overview

Tanzania is pursuing various national development initiatives spanning infrastructure, mining, and public health.

In the mining sector, officials have addressed grievances in the Ruvuma region regarding unpaid compensation and unmet corporate social responsibility obligations. To bolster the industry, the government has set a goal to increase geophysical research coverage from 16 percent to 50 percent by 2030, aiming to support small-scale miners and increase GDP contributions.

Administrative and infrastructure efforts include the commencement of the Bahi District Council administrative building and leadership transitions in the Pwani Region. On the international stage, Tanzania has committed to the eradication of Rinderpest by 2040 and continues to engage with its diaspora, including efforts to ensure the professional recognition of foreign training certificates through a national database.
