Tanzania officials advance regional infrastructure and mining oversight

In Tanzania, several regional administrative and developmental activities are underway. Prime Minister Mwigulu Nchemba laid the foundation stone for the Bahi District Council administrative building, a project estimated to cost 4.868 billion Shillings. The first phase of construction is complete, having utilized approximately 994.5 million Shillings of the initial 1 billion Shillings provided by the central government.

In the Pwani Region, Richard Marcellino Kayombo has officially assumed office as the Regional Administrative Secretary, succeeding Pili Mnyema. Kayombo has directed officials to prepare for potential El Niño weather impacts expected in October and to implement educational reforms ahead of 2028.

Meanwhile, in Dodoma, Minister of Minerals Anthony Mavunde met with Mbinga constituency MP and Minister of Industry and Trade Judith Salvio Kapinga to address coal mining grievances in the Ruvuma region. Discussions focused on unpaid compensation to affected citizens and the failure of some companies to fulfill Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) obligations regarding water, roads, and healthcare. The Ministry of Minerals has committed to addressing these issues within one month and has instructed the Mining Commission to investigate the matter in Ruvuma.
