Tanzania Prime Minister urges El Niño flood preparedness

Tanzanian Prime Minister Dr. Mwigulu Nchemba has issued a call for citizens and leaders at all levels to prepare for potential flooding caused by El Niño. During a visit to the Ilongero constituency in the Singida region, the Prime Minister urged residents in high-risk areas to follow official guidance and avoid building or living in flood-prone zones.

The government is working to strengthen its response capabilities, including the deployment of excavation vehicles to various zones. Additionally, Dr. Nchemba ordered the immediate commencement of the tender process for the construction of 11 kilometers of the Igauri–Ilongero road to be completed within the month.
