Taoyuan advances hospital expansions in Qingpu and municipal projects

Taoyuan is advancing significant healthcare infrastructure projects to meet the needs of its growing population. National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University’s planned affiliated hospital in Qingpu has passed municipal review. The facility is expected to feature 400 beds, including 300 general and 100 special beds, with 24-hour emergency services. Mayor Chang Shan-cheng stated that if subsequent reviews and investment recruitment proceed smoothly, medical services could begin around 2032.

Simultaneously, the Taoyuan City Government is moving forward with the establishment of the Taoyuan Municipal Hospital following approval from the Ministry of Health and Welfare. During a recent city council session, officials addressed critical challenges regarding these expansions, specifically the shortage of nursing staff and the need for specialized pediatric and geriatric care. To attract medical professionals, the city plans to offer support such as housing, childcare subsidies, and transportation assistance.

Additionally, the city is working to integrate medical discount systems for elderly citizens and exploring home-based hospitalization models to alleviate pressure on major emergency departments.
