TAP Air Portugal expands international routes to Brazil, Venezuela, and Cape Verde
TAP Air Portugal is significantly expanding its international network with several new and resumed flight connections. The airline is resuming direct flights between Lisbon and Caracas, Venezuela, twice weekly on Tuesdays and Sundays. This service was previously interrupted following an earthquake that damaged the Caracas airport.
In Brazil, TAP has inaugurated a new route connecting Lisbon to São Luís, Maranhão. Operating twice a week with Airbus A321LR aircraft, this expansion brings the airline's total Brazilian destinations to 15. Additionally, the airline has launched a new direct connection between Porto and Sal Island in Cape Verde, providing two weekly frequencies.
Separately, Angola's state carrier, TAAG, has announced plans to launch a Luanda–Praia route in Cape Verde starting December 12, 2026. Angolan Transport Minister Ricardo de Abreu noted that the expansion aims to strengthen connectivity within the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP).
