Taquara celebrates Festa do Colono, showcasing family agriculture
The third edition of the Festa do Colono was held on Saturday (the 4th) in Taquara, with activities centered on Praça da Bandeira and Rua Coberta. Organized by the municipal Department of Culture, the free‑entry festival featured live music from the German‑style band Vira Copos, singer July Bueno, and the Ritymus band, as well as German dance groups and local breweries.
The event highlighted the municipality’s family‑farm sector. The Casa do Colono, a community space that turned two years old this month, offered breads, cucas, cakes, jams, biscuits and other colonial‑style foods produced by local growers. Mayor Sirlei Silveira said the celebration, moved to coincide with the Day of the Farmer, helps bridge urban residents with rural producers and reinforces the value of family agriculture in the region.
Attendance remained strong despite cold weather, with hundreds of visitors purchasing goods directly from the producers and praising the organization and quality of the food and entertainment.
