In early July 2026 the town of Taquara marked the annual Festa do Colono, emphasizing family‑run agriculture and local produce. A few weeks later, Bento Gonçalves hosted its own Festa do Colono, expanding the festivities with live music, performances celebrating the region’s Italian immigrant heritage, and a showcase of family agro‑industries, tractors, drones and other farm equipment. Attendees sampled traditional foods such as polenta and bergamot, and could purchase local wines, cheeses and other colonial products. The event was broadcast by Radio Difusora 97.3 FM, which added giveaways and a live program. Both towns’ events illustrate the continued observance across Brazil of the colonial‑agricultural legacy that the Festa do Colono commemorates.
