Tarancón launches local commerce prizes and participatory budgeting
The municipality of Tarancón is implementing several local initiatives focused on economic stimulation and civic participation.
To support local businesses, the Tarancón City Council and CEOE CEPYME Tarancón concluded a ‘back-to-school’ campaign. The initiative distributed 1,875 euros across 25 winners, with each participating establishment—ranging from stationery and clothing to electronics—awarding a 75-euro voucher to a local customer. This year's campaign was extended to cover a longer period to increase local commerce dynamism.
Additionally, the City Council has launched its third annual participatory budgeting process. A fund of 40,000 euros has been allocated for residents aged 16 and older to propose and vote on public works and equipment purchases. Proposals can be submitted between October 12 and October 25, followed by a technical feasibility evaluation and a public voting phase in November.
