Taranto Democratic Party activist calls for unified stance on ex-Ilva

Within the Democratic Party (PD) in Taranto, calls have been made for the organization to establish a unified official position regarding the ex-Ilva industrial site and the potential shutdown of the high-temperature area. Party activist Davide De Fazio argued that while individual local circles, such as “Fratelli Cervi,” have the right to express political opinions, these views should not be presented as the official stance of the entire Taranto PD.

De Fazio emphasized the need for the party's leadership—specifically mentioning regional secretary Domenico De Santis, provincial secretary Anna Filippetti, and city secretary Giuseppe Tursi—to define a clear, common line on issues involving public health, the environment, and the economic future of thousands of workers to avoid internal fragmentation and public confusion.
