Taranto launches free inclusive parasailing course for people with disabilities
The city of Taranto, Italy, has begun its first free parasailing course designed for adults with disabilities. Ten participants of varying ages and impairments are taking part in the inclusive sailing program organized by the non‑profit Ets‑Aps “Salpiamo”.
The initiative is supported by the Rotary Club Taranto 1950, the association “Mister Sorriso”, and Cantieri del Sud, which provided the base at San Vito. Three Hansa 303 vessels, equipped with a certified crane for safe boarding, are used under the guidance of sailing‑therapy instructors. Technical partner Ondabuena Academy also assists.
Rotary Club President Fabio Pierri Pepe said the club “strongly wanted to support this activity … to offer people with disability the opportunity to practice sailing, demonstrating true inclusion.” Salpiamo President Umberto Di Toppa explained that participants are assisted by specialized instructors and that the program aims to promote education, rehabilitation and social integration through sailing. Enrollment for future courses is now open.
