Regional sports initiatives launch across Italy and San Marino

Various regional sports initiatives are being launched across Italy and San Marino, focusing on economic legacy, inclusion, and public health.

In Taranto, the “Sport Up!” program has been introduced to leverage the legacy of the Mediterranean Games. This free training initiative aims to transform sporting infrastructure into long-term economic and social opportunities by fostering entrepreneurship among youth.

In Messina, the “Sport Lab” project, inspired by Alex Zanardi and created by Obiettivo3, is launching a biennial training program for paralympic athletes. The first campus will support individuals with disabilities in disciplines such as paracycling and para-triathlon.

Other community-focused events include “Sport in Piazza” in Racconigi and Cuneo to promote local wellness, and “Sport in Fiera” in San Marino, which offers free access to sporting facilities and tournaments. Additionally, the “Olympia in Comune” project seeks to connect Southern Italian municipalities with ancient Olympia, Greece, through cultural and sporting dialogue.

Health-oriented programs are also active, such as the “Stammi Bene” walk in Siena to promote cardiovascular health and the “+Sport – Diabete = Salute e Benessere” event in Marta, designed to support youth managing Type 1 diabetes through physical activity.
