Tarapacá initiatives support women-led business innovation and sales

Various initiatives are supporting women-led businesses in the Tarapacá region of Chile through training and commercialization opportunities.

The CompiteMAS® Mujer project recently held its second workshop, “Sustainable Value for Women's SMEs in Tarapacá,” which brought together 16 representatives from Iquique and El Tamarugal. Executed by the Biotechnology Nucleus of Curauma at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso and funded by the Regional Government of Tarapacá, the workshop focused on innovation management and project portfolio development. Participants from sectors including tourism, manufacturing, agro-food, and logistics worked on proposals involving circular economy, waste valorization, and new market access.

Additionally, 42 entrepreneurs from the SernamEG Mujer Emprende Program participated in commercialization fairs held at Líder and Unimarc supermarkets in Iquique. These events, organized in collaboration with Walmart Chile and SMU-Unimarc, allowed entrepreneurs in fields such as crafts, gastronomy, cosmetics, and textiles to showcase products directly to customers. Regional director Natalia Currín Aracena noted that these private-sector alliances are vital for providing the concrete commercial opportunities necessary for economic autonomy.
