Tarapacá regional support for women entrepreneurs
Overview
In the Tarapacá region of Chile, initiatives are being implemented to support women-led businesses through training and commercialization opportunities.
The CompiteMAS® Mujer project, funded by the Regional Government of Tarapacá, conducted a workshop titled “Sustainable Value for Women's SMEs in Tarapacá” to focus on innovation management and project portfolio development. Participants from sectors such as tourism, manufacturing, agro-food, and logistics worked on proposals involving the circular economy and waste valorization.
Furthermore, 42 entrepreneurs from the SernamEG Mujer Emprende Program participated in commercialization fairs at supermarkets in Iquique. Organized in collaboration with Walmart Chile and SMU-Unimarc, these events allowed entrepreneurs in crafts, gastronomy, cosmetics, and textiles to showcase products. Regional director Natalia Currín Aracena stated that these private-sector alliances are “vital for providing the concrete commercial opportunities necessary for economic autonomy.”
