Tarapacá logistics governance group presents strategic economic analysis

The Tarapacá Logistics Governance group held its second session to review a new strategic and economic projection study for the regional logistics sector. The meeting brought together public, private, academic, and trade representatives to address challenges and opportunities for the region.

The study evaluates the current state of logistics services and provides data to guide future decision-making. It focuses on Tarapacá’s potential as a strategic logistics hub, leveraging its geographic location, port activity, Free Trade Zone, and land transport connections to national and international markets.

Dr. Lionel Valenzuela, director of the ‘Impulsa Logística Tarapacá’ project, emphasized the need to move from diagnosis to action using concrete data. He noted that while the region has the potential to become a major South American logistics pole, it requires greater coordination and a shared vision among stakeholders. Carolina Quinteros, head of the Promotion and Industry Division of the Tarapacá Regional Government, stated that the initiative aims to translate existing infrastructure and location advantages into increased competitiveness and employment.
