Tarcísio de Freitas launches re‑election bid for São Paulo governorship
On 1 August 2026 the Republicanos party held a convention in São Paulo and officially nominated Governor Tarcísio de Freitas for a second term. He will run with Felício Ramuth (MDB) as vice‑governor and the ticket is supported by a 12‑party coalition that includes MDB, PL, PSD, União Brasil, PP, Podemos, PSDB, Cidadania, Solidariedade, PRD, Avante and Novo. Flávio Bolsonaro attended the event. In his speech Tarcísio thanked his wife Cristiane Freitas, recalled his battle with cancer and praised former president Jair Bolsonaro.
