The Republicanos party confirmed on 1 August 2026, at a convention in São Paulo, that Governor Tarcísio de Freitas will run for re‑election as governor of São Paulo. His ticket includes Felício Ramuth (MDB) as vice‑governor and a coalition of twelve parties – MDB, PL, PSD, União Brasil, PP, Podemos, PSDB, Cidadania, Solidariedade, PRD, Avante and Novo. The event was attended by Flávio Bolsonaro and featured Tarcísio thanking his wife Cristiane Freitas, recalling his battle with cancer, and praising former president Jair Bolsonaro.

The governor also publicly endorsed Mato Grosso governor Otaviano Pivetta for the 2026 state election and pledged cooperation between the two administrations.
