Tarik Skubal eyes potential Detroit Tigers reunion after Dodgers trade

Pitcher Tarik Skubal has expressed a desire to reunite with the Detroit Tigers, hoping contract negotiations will resume in November after he enters free agency this fall. Despite his recent trade to the Los Angeles Dodgers, Skubal stated, “I would love to play my whole career in Detroit,” noting his deep emotional connection to the team, coaching staff, and teammates.

Skubal was traded to the Dodgers before the August 3 deadline in exchange for prospects Zyhir Hope, River Ryan, and Brady Smith. While currently focused on helping the Dodgers' postseason push, Skubal's future remains uncertain. He is expected to enter free agency following the season, and while the Tigers have previously offered contracts below $80 million for four years, Skubal's market value remains high following two American League Cy Young awards and a 2.81 ERA this season.
