Tarnobrzeg to rebuild Wisłostrada with dedicated bike lane and walkway

The city of Tarnobrzeg has launched a public tender to reconstruct a 2.245‑km section of provincial road 871, known locally as Wisłostrada. The project will create a separate two‑way bicycle path 2.5 m wide with a red‑bitumen surface, a 2 m wide pedestrian sidewalk, and a 0.5 m green strip separating the two traffic streams on roughly 1.268 km where the road width permits. Where full separation is not possible, a combined pedestrian‑bicycle lane with clear markings will be installed over about 962 m. Additional works include new LED street lighting, drainage upgrades, removal of infrastructure conflicts, and the construction of two “Miejsca Odpoczynku Pieszych i Rowerzystów” (rest areas for walkers and cyclists). Bids are accepted until 27 July 2026, with the aim of delivering a safer, more comfortable route for motorists, cyclists and pedestrians.

The redevelopment is part of Tarnobrzeg’s broader efforts to improve urban mobility and public space, addressing traffic safety and encouraging active transport within the city.
