Tarsila do Amaral immersive exhibition opens in São Paulo

An immersive exhibition titled ‘O Brasil de Tarsila’ has opened at the Nubank Art Lab in São Paulo to celebrate the 140th anniversary of the birth of renowned Brazilian modernist painter Tarsila do Amaral. Located in the Conjunto Nacional on Avenida Paulista, the exhibition is scheduled to run until October 31.

The showcase features 14 rooms containing over 70 reproduced, animated, or projected works. The experience utilizes advanced scenography, 360-degree projections, exclusive soundtracks, interactive devices, and even specific aromas to create a sensory journey. Visitors can interact with elements such as the famous ‘Abaporu’ painting or see themselves integrated into the iconic ‘Operários’ canvas.

Curated by Paola do Amaral Montenegro and Juliana Miraldi, the project aims to be democratic by providing access to works often held in private collections or restricted locations. The audiovisual content was developed by more than 32 digital and plastic artists without the use of artificial intelligence to ensure aesthetic consistency.
