Tarsus municipality launches summer village festival for children
The Tarsus Municipality began its "Köyde Şenlik Tarsus’ta Gelecek Var" program in the Alifakı neighbourhood, with a second session in Yeşiltepe. The initiative runs twice a week throughout the summer, moving to different rural neighbourhoods. Children take part in interactive games, pottery turning, ebru art, bracelet making and face‑painting workshops, while the municipal orchestra provides concerts and the city theatre stages the popular play “Muhallebi Kabadayı”.
Ahead of each festival, teams from the Women and Family Services Directorate and the Health Services Directorate conduct house visits, offering dietary advice, free blood‑sugar and blood‑pressure checks, and information from psychologists and sociologists. The programme aims to combine cultural, artistic and entertainment activities with on‑site health and social support for families in Tarsus’s rural areas.
