Tarsus: Specialist sergeant kills wife and commits suicide

In the Tarsus district of Mersin, a man shot and killed his wife before committing suicide with the same weapon. The incident occurred at a travel agency on İsmetpaşa Boulevard in the Duatepe neighborhood, where the victim, 46-year-old Narin S., was working.

Investigations revealed that the perpetrator, 47-year-old İsmail S., was a specialist sergeant serving at the Coast Guard Mediterranean Regional Command. Reports indicate that İsmail S. had been under a restraining order for approximately 1.5 years prior to the incident.

Emergency services responded to the scene, where both individuals were pronounced dead. The couple leaves behind two children. Local police have launched an investigation to determine the exact circumstances of the dispute and the status of the restraining order at the time of the shooting.
